Privacy notice
Your data, plainly
Your political views are sensitive. This page explains exactly what we keep, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
Draft for review: the company name, address and contact address below must be completed before launch.
Who we are
We the Panel is run by [Company name], [registered address in the EU], which decides how your data is used (the “controller”). Contact us at [privacy@yourdomain] about anything on this page.
What we keep
- If you only take the quiz: nothing. Your answers stay in your browser and disappear when you close the tab.
- If you join the panel: your email address and ZIP code (kept separately from your answers), your quiz answers, state and birth year, anything optional you choose to tell us (gender, education, race or ethnicity, party, 2024 vote), your answers to panel questions, and a record of what you consented to and when.
- Cookies: one sign-in cookie once you confirm your email. No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Why, and on what basis
We use your data to run the panel: to send you questions, to weight results so they represent the country, and to publish combined results. Political opinions and race or ethnicity are special categories of data under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, so we process them only with your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time, and we will delete your data.
Who can see it
- We publish combined results only, and we never publish a group so small that someone could be identified.
- We never sell or share your individual answers, to campaigns, advertisers or anyone else.
- Service providers process data on our behalf under contract: Cloudflare (hosting, email delivery and bot protection, on its global network) and Neon (the database, hosted in the United States).
How long we keep it
As long as you are on the panel. If you leave, we delete your account and every answer. If you never confirm your email, we delete your sign-up after 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it, and you can leave the panel from your panel page at any time. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to us or to a data protection authority. Residents of US states with privacy laws, such as California, have similar rights, and we honor them for everyone.
Age
The panel is for adults aged 18 and over who live in the United States.
